Qualitative respirator fit testing
Sonic Onsite Services Inc also provides qualitative methods such as Saccharin and Bitrex fit testing. The test consists of using irritant smoke, or sweet a sweet tasting mist to determine if the employee can taste the solution through the mask. If the subject can smell or taste the solution, its determined the mask has an incorrect fit and needs to be adjusted. This type of practice is not as common as our quantitative which is highly recommended over qualitative testing.
Quantitative respirator fit testing
Using our TSI portacount unit ensures the employee has a perfect fit. By purging the mask, the machine is able to determine if the mask has any leaks, therefore ensuring the perfect fit. Our qualified technicians demonstrate the proper use of the mask, how to clean the mask and to educate the employee on the hazards they will be working with.
Sonic Onsite Services TSI PortaCount Respirator Fit Testers are designed to fit test all types of respirators and masks, including an N95 respirator. The PortaCount Pro+ Respirator Fit Tester is the only instrument with built-in N95 technology to perform a quantitative fit test on an N95 respirator. The PortaCount Respirator Testers are OSHA-compliant for all respirators.
